THE POWER OF URGENCY

THE POWER OF URGENCY
Alexander Fleming celebrated the world over for discovering pencillium (used for treating bacteria)owes his success to the power of urgency. For indeed two others before him, had made the same discovery, but went no further. Fleming recognized the importance of his findings and unlike his predecessors , he acted immediately. He would later say:” My only merit is that I did not neglect the observations and that I pursued the subject as a bacteriologist. The urgency of his action won him the Nobel prize for medicine. According to Lester Rosen:” Your ideas only work if you do”. The pathway to success and achievement is attained by taking urgent step of action towards your desired destination. You need to step out and make it happen. A dream that is not backed up with action is just an illusion. We’ve moved from the era of “Talking the talk” to the era of “Walking the talk”. As a career and personal development coach I have had the opportunity of coaching people on how to fastrack their lives to success. What I have discovered from my coaching sessions with these individuals is that they leave the environment motivated and inspired but just few days after our initial meeting , they usually are walking comfortably into their conventional lifestyle.
Beyond reading inspirational books, listening to motivational tapes and attending personal empowerment seminars, you also need to back up these success catalysts with action. You need to close the book, leave the seminars halls, fired up and motivated to take action!.History has it on good account that many inventors were working to accomplish the telephone dream but only Alexander Graham Bell, who migrated to the United states from the UK was the first to succeed. As a result Bell was frequently called upon to testify in the laws suits brought about by men claiming that they invented the telephone earlier. The court however, upheld Bell’s right in all the cases. For every idea you conceive, there are other people who have conceived that same idea. Its now up to you to roll your sleeves and get to work.Take Action on that book you’ve been promising yourself you would write,do something about that business idea,Godgiven potentials and project.Stop waiting for the perfect condition to step out.Because the reality is that you will always have one million excuses why it cannot be done.Embrace urgency because tomorrow men never accomplish anything in today’s world.More action less talk(M.A.L.T)should be your slogan for success.Refrain from just talking to walking in the path of action orientation.Quit waiting till you are perfectly ready. Most of life is on the job training. Some of the most important things can only be learnt in the process of doing.Remember a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step.
You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.Greatness lies in action orientation .In the words of Richard Paul Evans:”Everyone who got to where they are, has to to begin where they were”.Our country needs you to rise u to the occasion like Rosa Parks, Mahatma Ghandi, Nelson Mandela. You need to rise and confront the giant confronting our nation.Every known problem by “GETTOITVENESS”i.e the habit of getting to take action. You must make a list of what you want to do everyday , before starting out that day.No day should meet you unprepared so get up and go make something for yourself.Anthony Robbins puts it this way:”A dream backed up by an unrelenting will to attain is truly a reality with an imminent arrival”.Some men dream of lofty accomplishments , why others stay awake and do them.Henry David Thoreau said:”If you have built castle in the air, you need not be lost that is where they should be.Now put foundations under them”The only way to triumph is to try.Go and rule your world!
