8 lessons learnt from obama's historic victory

8 LESSONS LEARNT FROM OBAMA’S HISTORIC VICTORY
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character”
-MARTIN LUTHER KING JNR
This is king’s most quoted line put into use today by many dreamers in diverse fields. King had a dream and out to accomplish it .These prophetic word are now a surprising reality as America and the rest of the world witnessed the crowning of barrack obama as the first African American president to preside over the Whitehouse. I will be sharing with you inspiring lessons drawn from this iconic personality.

LESSON 1
BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAM
Dreams are the prophecies of the future. Barrack obama strongly believed in his dream of leading America, despite being a junior senator from Illinois , who started out from the lowest rung of the ladder. You’ve got to have faith in your dreams and earnestly desire its coming to pass. What you believe is what you become.

LESSON 2
YOUR BACKGROUND CANNOT STOP YOU
Barrack obama grew up herding goats with his own father, who was a domestic servant to the British. Its not where you are coming from that stops you from achieving your dreams, its allowing your flaws, and fragilities to stop that actually inhibits your potential. George Bernard Shaw said:’ People are always blaming their circumstances for where they are”

LESSON 3
LEARN TO START SMALL
Its no longer news that obama started from the grass roots. After working at a business international co operation(a company that provides international, business information to corporate clients),obama moved to Chicago in 1985 where he worked as a community organizer with low income residents in Chicago. Whatever is your dream, either to write a book, become a superstar in your field, make more money, be willing to take baby steps towards its accomplishment.

LESSON 5
HAVE A MESSAGE
Obama’s message is simple and aspirational.Over and over he painted a picture of a future that excited and invigorated people. The conviction displayed in his message can be drawn from his campaign slogan-Yes we can! Change we need. Every word he utters is targeted towards this profound message of hope.Whateveryou do in life, its very pertinent for you to have a clear message and be able to communicate it distinctively. Brand your peculiarities and be proud of what you project.

LESSON 6
RELATIONSHIP COUNTS
An African proverb says:” A tree cannot make a forest” .People is more important than project and that is what obama leveraged on. From the start obama had support from the media which chose to downplay controversies involving him. He also leveraged on the support of well meaning friends and supporters. In the end no one could dispute that obama’s relational skills made a huge difference. People won’t go along with you until you get along with them.

LESSON 7
JUST DARE IT
Obama dared the impossible and decided to dance to his own drum beat. He dared to follow the road less traveled .All of the men that have made a difference in our world all dared greatly. we live in a world where every one prays for the volunteer to go first. Daring means challenging the impossible and that is what obama did.

LESSON 8
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
This is the major lesson to be learnt .Years back, people say a black man can never preside over the white house, today it’s a reality. Impossible means im-possible .All you need to is to believe ardently in your pursuits and be willing to take action.Obama wasn,t just talking about his dream, he also walked his talk. Great dreams are dreamed with open eyes to make them come true. The world is waiting to read your own success story.Yes you can! Go and rule your world.

WHAT MAKES THE GREAT GREAT

WHAT MAKES THE GREAT GREAT
When you think of greatness what comes to your mind? Is it being a star with fawning fans telling you how good you are? Is it calling the shots as the CEO of your own company? Or is it simply graduating with a first-class after years of burning the mid night candle, in order to be the epitome of greatness? Most of us have resorted to just coping with life instead of living it. We stay on the sidelines of the game called life and and act as if life is a football match with us as the spectators. The truth is that deep in the recess of our minds is that strong desire to be great, to be a shining light in our generation. We all have the capacity to be great, but it is not everyone that will be great, because it is only a few minority that puts into action the habits and the lifestyle of the truly great who inspire us to dream tall dreams and be all we’ve been wired to be. So what does it mean to be great?

G-Guts: Great people are gutsy. They are never discouraged by the trials and tornadoes of life .They simply step out and do what has been called –IMPOSSIBLE.I was flipping through the pages of a newspaper recently, and I was thrilled at Mr. olu Jacob’s definition of greatness, he said:” Greatness is achieving the unachieveable”.Exceptionally great people have had to encounter exceptional rejections and adversities but they never gave in to the bitter pills of defeat. A young man that never ceases to amaze me is the phenomenal cobhams asuquo –Nigeria, s award winning music producer who is visually impaired. He has been able to overcome his personal pains to become an icon in Nigeria’s entertainment mainstream. He once remarked in an interview:” You cannot afford to stop trying because you cannot afford to quit”

R-Relationships: Its been said that no one succeeds in isolation. Every success story is a story told by the priceless help of others. Great people leverage on quality relationships which yield quality results in their lives .Success or failure in life is essentially a function of human relationships. Have you ever found yourself dealing with some one difficult and thought:” she is talented but she is sure hard to work with”, such people never reach their full potential because they are able to accomplish only a fraction of what they could only if they knew how to win with people. Good relationships are more than just the icing on the cake, infact they are the cake- the very substance we need to live a fulfilling life.

E-Excellence:It connoites the quality of making something extremely good.Great people endorse their works with excellence and are willing to give their best so as to constantly be better than their best. According to Ameriaca’s celebrity entrepreneur Donald trump:” The best way to impress peole is through results” You have to create excellence to impress peole in the business of life. From small beginnings in jos and Abuja Psquare(peter and Paul okoye) came down to Lagos in 2000 to ,pursue their life’s passion-music.Fastforward to 2008, the tables have turned as they cruise posh wheels like hummer3 and Toyota sequoia .They upped the stakes in music videos when they sold their cars and traveled to the u.k to shoot videos of songs from their album. When you talk of excellently done music videos p square comes to mind. Great people refrain from mediocrity and embrace excellence.

A-Add value
Adding value is about making something better than you met it.Bill gates is described as the guy who had a dream of a computer on every desk , run of course by his Microsoft operating system. The ease with which we get our documents prepared, the speed at which graphics can be decided can be attributed to the value adding mentality of bill gates. I was invited recently to speak at an event and the organizers couldn’t afford my speaking fee, I just had to let go and I added value to the event. They’ ve decided to invite me for me for another event that will fetch more money. I focused on the impact not the income. Value adding is the basis for growth and development.

T-Tenacity:” You know I will never give up .I will only give up the day I breath my last. The day I die. The day I enter the grave. “These were the words of the erudite human rights activist chief gani fawehnmi. You can be sure that if Gani takes up a cause today, no amount of opposition will make him stop until its being accomplished. Never let go of the object of your pursuits. It is only the tenacious that will be victorious. You too can be great only if you apply these principles I have just shared with you. Go and rule your world !

LESSONS FROM NIGERIA'S ENTREPRENEURS

LESSONS FROM NIGERIA’S ENTERPRISING ENTRENEURS
When he was 26, this vision driven young Nigerian established a weekly newsmagazine , which he called THIS WEEK. However when General ibrahim babagida ‘s government deregulated the foreign exchange market in 1986, this took its toll on the operations and the funding of the magazine. It folded up and the curtain was drawn on this youngster’s dream. His detractors began to criticize him for failing. Forgetting that with his sheer persistent nature he’s sure bound for the topmost top, in spite of the loads of challenges he’s been faced with. Today , in most part s of Nigeria, Nigerians see evidence of his dreams.THISDAY newspapers is now one of the Strongest newspaper brands and nduka obaigbena the publisher / founder of the company is regarded as one of the leading professionals in Nigeria’s journalism terrain. He was willing to hold on to the dreams he had despite the level of challenges he encountered. So many startup entrepreneurs are discouraged and disillusioned when they taste the bitter pills of adversity. Recently, I was coaching some young entrepreneurs who needed to jumpstart their business ideas. I told them clearly and bluntly that business takes time to blossom and grow, and they shouldn’t expect to break speed limits. Adversity comes to help us discover and develop the goldmine and the gemstone lying dormant on our inside. Which otherwise would have been lying there unused and dormant without the pressure of adversity.
She once sold her car so as to produce her talk show and went three years without a car. While in the university, she had to sell shoes and clothes so as to put body and soul together. As an entrepreneur it took time for people to buy into her dream. Today, she hosts and produced Nigeria’s number one talkshow:Newdawn. Her name?Funmi iyanda. She made the head lines recently for winning the archbishop desmond tutu award for her contribution to humanity. Her red hot passion made her sell her priceless possession just because of the fact that she believed deeply in the pursuit of her passion. What are you willing to sell in order to buy the future.? What are you willing to forfeit,
So as to savor the profits of significance and success?. Remember there are no shortcuts no anyplace worth going. Any accomplishment worth its salt is a function of sacrifice .Everybody desires fame, success, wealth and prosperity, but nobody is willing to pay the price of success in order to enjoy the prize of success. It is absolutely impossible to rise to the top in any sphere of life without sweating it out. Every gift in life comes with a price tag attached to it.
He hawked plantain on the streets of warri, which inspired his desire to succeed. That awesome sense of direction made him discover his true calling in life-sports broadcast. Talking sports fascinated larry izamoje greatly and he has been through thick and thin in order to profit from his passion. At a time in his life, he had to wake up very early in the morning in order to present a sports programme in abeokuta which will be lasting for only 15minutes.He had to turn his car into a cab so as to play his fatherly roles at home. Presently , Big Larry, as he his fondly called by his admirers sits atop the first sports radio station in Africa-BRILA FM.No wonder he once said: ‘Passion gives rise to action”. True greatness comes from a burning desire and a firm resolution to hang in there come what may. Larry has been able to master the streetwise lessons he learnt while starting as a rookie entrepreneur. Are you seeing your present challenges as a difficulty or as an opportunity? So what are you seeing about you life ?
Sunny ojeagbase started life with a standard six education and was also a compulsive gambler. He almost gave up on his business when they were experiencing financial difficulties. He was willing to hold on to the strong belief he had in God and today complete sports –(one of his numerous sporting publication )is the best selling sports journal in Africa. Several people have found their names on the pages of history because they were dedicated, determined and had a do it now lifestyle towards the actualization of their dreams.Dr sunny is referred today as Nigeria’s entrepreneur extraordinaire as a result of raising other entrepreneurs and contributing to human development. He succeeded despite the mountainous odds on his pathway to success. He could have given up on himself because of his educational background, but he decided to make a masterpiece out of the portrait of his life. Deciding to become a career coach/sought after speaker hasn’t been smooth and easy. I recall vividly the periods when I had to starve and save money so as to buy books, attend seminars and invest in my future. I had to sell magazines and books on the streets of Lagos. Those life’s experiences has made me been able to consult coach, and speak to people I never dreamt of meeting in my life time. According to George s Patton: “I do not fear failure. I only fear the slowing up of the engine inside of me which is pounding saying: “Keep going someone must be on top , why not you?” Go and rule your world!

BE AN ENTERPRISING YOUNGSTER

BE AN ENTERPRISING YOUNGSTER
Many people pay lip service to change , although some really desire it , but never get around to actually taking steps towards achieving that
change .Whether you are young or old , rich or poor, tall or short, every one in the secret chambers of their minds desire a better life. A life without inhibitions, restrictions and limitations. Life beyond borders and barriers. You desire to light to light your own fire, you desire to sing your own song , you desire to spread your wings and fly away. But you don,t know how to get started. You’ve attended countless workshops, seminars and programmes, read several books and interviews, but you still see that void in your life. You are stuck in the mire of life, finding how to rise and become who you were meant to be. A sage once said: “You cannot be who you were meant to be, by remaining who you are”.
So are you ready? Are you ready to give yourself the permission to live life abundantly? Imagine you have 3days to live. What would you do differently? The following are the tools you can apply to your life in order to become a better and more enterprising person.
POSITIVITY:This implies you will never think or affirm the negative concerning your self and also refusing to engage in “Stinking thinking” which results into you feeling sorry for yourself. Everyone slips and fall once in a while. But what really counts is to maintain a positive attitude .Do you see your life’s glass cup as half full or as half empty. You’ve got to choose what you want.Asa was once rejected in her church choir for having a rather unlady like voice, 9ice ‘s first album wasn’t a commercial success, cobhams asuquo is visually impaired, but they’ ve all maintained an optimistic outlook towards life. Choose to stick to positivity.

PLAY THE APPRENTICE: Yes! Play the apprentice even when you have the power to call the shots. This is one of the hallmarks of true great men. Men who realize that they always need to know if they must stay aglow. Playing the apprentice is about submitting yourself to becoming a learner from those who are masters of the art.As a student or a budding entrepreneur, You need to begin to associate with people who will stretch you and expand you into who you really need to be. It takes humility to be able to learn. I fondly recall my days as a budding motivational speaker, I attended every seminar within my capacity, and hooked up with mentors who constantly challenged me to be the best. Today, I am better for it. I was willing to glean from other people’s wealth of experience. The same can work for you.

PLAN: Success doesn’t just drop on your lap. You plan for it. No one succeeds by accident. Success is a function of a plan that was worked out. Any enterprise that is built on wise planning becomes strong .It isn’t enough for you to have the “Want to” factor you need to also embrace the how to “factor too. Everybody wants to make something out of their lives, no one is really desirous of counting the count , sitting down to plan. As you lay your bed , so you lie on it.

PERSISTENCE: Charles steinmetz one of the founders of General electric was crippled from birth, he was so short in stature that he looked like a dwarf. His mother died before he was one year old. His father was poor but determined that young Charles would have an education. His sight was defective e and people thought he would amount to nothing. He became educated in spite of his challenges and realized his life long dream. When he died in 1923, one writer said: ‘He had the mind of an angel and the soul of a seer.” Never ever give up. Keep trying and exploring the options life throws at you. You will win!

PARTICIPATE: Have you been merely loitering on the sidelines of life, instead of going into the main arena , and becoming the driver of your destiny . Its time to take responsibility for your life. Stop blaming your parents for not being able to pay your school fees, stop complaining about the start up capital you need to kick start your business. Stop indulging In the blame game and become an active participant in the game of your life. Life is like riding in a taxi whether you are going anywhere or not, the meter keeps ticking .Go and rule your world!

BE A CELEBRITY BRAND

BE A CELEBRITY BRAND!
“Being a celebrity expands your commercial possibilities”
-JERRY SEINFIELD
Celebrities are highly recognized high profile individuals whose name or brand has the ability to draw attention and add value to whatever it is associated with. Whether you are talking about products on the shelf, memorable events or celebrities in the tabloids , every wants to be a star. Because having a high profile is the best way to get your message across through all the clamor and clutter of the modern world. The father of product branding , David oglivy died in July 1999 at 88.A month later his company remade its corporate identity by adopting its handwritten signature as its official logo.
The biggest brand companies are willing to pay enormous amounts of money for brand name celebrity endorsements. Nike alone once had an annual budget of $300million just to pay celebrity brand athletes for endorsing its footwear. Back home in Nigeria, celebrity branding is fast coming to the mainstream as celebs are now used for product endorsements.
-Brand Dbanj:This 28 years old music icon entered a multimillion dollars deal with virgin colors soft drinks as the brand ambassador of their product.”Dbanj is a typical representation of what we believe at virgin colors soft drink-excellence, and youth innovation vibrancy. These are the qualities that have played major roles in putting dbanj on the world map of music “ reiterated Michael gengeheimer-MD virgin colors soft drink. The likes of Stephanie okereke, tuface idibia, basketmouth, kate henshaw nuttal, stella damastus(the list is still growing) are also in the league of celebrities who have savored endorsements deals.
Everything is a brand .People are brands because, we all have a certain identity. Being a celebrity brand is all about creating a distinctive identity that makes you stand out from the crowd. Being a celebrity brand positions you as the head of ;your own company whose primary project is “YOU”. Michael Jordan was reportedly earning $69million a year even after he retired from basketball. Phil quartarao of Warner bros records made this statement during an interview he granted Forbes magazine: ‘Today’s real stars are the ones like Michael who can create an image about and beyond their medium.Micheal is not promoting a movie , he’s promoting an image. That’s what stardom is all about’
- Key lessons from celebrity brands
1 .Value+ brand recognition= success
You must build value into your brand and manage it thoughtfully, to keep your visibility high and image positive. Companies use these celebrities because of their run-away success in their various terrain. It is imperative for you to unleash your brand asset i.e a combination of your talents, skills, natural abilities, and unique attributes.

2.Celebrity brands rub off: When building your celebrity brand always strive to associate with other strong celebrity brands , who can add visibility and value to yours. That is the more reason why 9ice featured tuface idibia on his album.

3.Don,t be afraid to stretch your brand: If you build real value into your brand there won’t be fear over stretching it. Celebrity brands are always willing to .stretch for opportunities beyond their grasp. Stella damastus is not only an actress, but also a musician / compere,Julius agwu is not only a comedian, but also an actor ,musician/compere.I will conclude by quoting Albert Einstein’s sagacious statement:’Don,t be a man of success be a man of value .Call me right away for my life changing career coaching sessions!

9 LESSONS YOU SHOULD LEARN FROM 9ICE
No one knows how it happened but suddenly 9ice, abolore akande suddenly became a force to reckon with in Nigeria’s music industry. This creative hit maker clinched the revelation of the year award and the vocal performance winner at the 2008 hip-hop world awards. Since the release of his latest album:”Gongo aso” which means something is about to happen,9ice has continued to make things happen in his music career. Here are the lessons everyone should learn from 9ice’s rise to success.

Lesson 1 :Originality(Don’t be a photocopy)
When I first listened to Gongo aso I was drown away by his lyrical prowess and its groovy beat. With his unique blend of ethnicity and contemporary feel, he has proven to us that there is power in originality. Now every one wants to sound like 9ice.If you must succeed in life, you have to stick to your uniqueness and be comfortable in your own skin .

Lesson 2:Persistence
Determined to toe music line, 9ice started putting down his songs in writing around 1995 , after which he recorded demos. After years of studying the music industry and working on his talent , 9ice finally became a shining light. His debut album titled: “Certificate” wasn’t really a commercial success, but he stuck to his game and today he is enjoying his profitable pay offs of persistence.

Lesson 3:Hardwork
A sage once said:” Success is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration”. Nothing works like hardwork. He got the ‘9’ part of his name based on the regimen he engages in. He does not go 9days without working on new songs. The main satisfaction of life comes from hard work. Whatever you are willing to work for, will definitely work for you.

Lesson 4:Passion
His encounter with music came to the fore after he dropped out of the law faculty of Lagos state university. His unquenchable passion for music made him use the money his parents gave him to enroll ;for JAMB to book studio session. This what tiger wood once said about the game of golf:’ I love this game to death. Its like a drug I have to have’.

Lesson 5:People skills
No one succeeds in isolation. His rise to the top of his game is a function of the relationship he has with others. He has done collabos with artistes like : rugged man, 2shots,and segun obe.In life its team work that makes your dream work.

Lesson 6:Start early
The way he carries himself proves that he is not a rookie musician. He started as far back as 1996 when he recorded his first demo titled:Risi de alagbaja.Whatever you want to achieve in life requires action orientation .Stop procrastinating on that book you desire to write .Fela durotoye puts it this way: ‘Early to start early to reign’

Lesson 7:Knowledge
Its true that your learning power determines your earning power. Assumption is the lowest level of knowledge. His proverbial lyrics and music harmonies all testify that he has a strong and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. As a career coach, I tell my clients to read at least two books in a moth so as to be on top of their career.

Lesson 8:Little beginnings
He wasn’t born with a silver spoon, but he has been able to make his parents proud of him. In the words of Dr chris Williams :’Its not a must to be born with a silver spoon in one’s mouth ,if you realize that you weren’t born with a silver spoon in your mouth you can deliberately put a golden spoon or a diamond spoon in your mouth if you so wish. The choice is yours’

Lesson 9:The God factor
In “Ade ori” a song in his album which is meant to show his attitude of gratitude to God, he showed with sincerity and honesty , his heart of gratitude to God. Success becomes permissible without God. God is the one who creates opportunities we never thought existed to succeed.
The lessons drawn from 9ice’s life is to make you motivated to take charge of your life. Nothing moves until you move!

LEARNING FROM COBHAMS

LEARNING FROM COBHAMS
(How cobhams a young blind music producer became an high achiever}
Watching cobhams asuquo’s magic fingers race from one side of the piano to another at the 2008 future awards , showed that he had not only mastered his art, but he has gained mastery over his challenges. With the talented trio of segun obe, essence, and ego performing the Nigerian national anthem, it just communicated the fact that in every corner of Nigeria, lies an hidden genius waiting to break loose. During the performance, I concluded that there is more to cobhams than meets the eyes.He needs no introduction especially in the Nigerian music terrain. Having created musical masterpieces for the likes of asa, dare art alade, rooftop mcs, modele, dekunle fuji. You will definitely conclude that any music cobhams bakes with his magic fingers must become an instant hit.
Though he is visually impaired, but he is not without a clear sense of vision. He could easily have been the next kid begging by the windshield of the street of Lagos. But this highly skillful pianist and sought after music producer has chosen to bounce back from his challenges. He chose to see his glass cup as half full instead of seeing as half empty like pessimists do. He has faced a whole lot of challenges and tough times, but he says:” I have chosen not to see challenges. Today, young Nigerians draw inspiration from this award winning producer, who recently clinched the producer of the year at the just concluded hip hop world awards. He has proven that ability lies in disability. Every weakness you have can become a great tool of strength , if you, look inwards and maximize the God-given potential, the creator has deposited on your inside. John foppe the American Motivational has no arms, Nick vijucic the American pastor has no limbs, yet he claims that he is not limited. Our own yinka ayefele despite the fact that he is on a wheel chair ,smiles to the bank after every of his profitable music performances. Dear friend, what’s your excuse? Nothing can stop you from getting to the top unless you decide to stop yourself. Stop looking at your disabilities and start strengthening your unique abilities. According to Herb greenherb, the blind co-author of Succeed on your own terms: “Everyone has key strengths and key limitations, that is the human condition the real winners in this world are those individuals, who know their strengths and are able to create situations that play to their unique abilities where there limitations are of little consequence”. Have you been inspired why not interact with me .Go and rule your world!

THE YOUNGSTER’S GUIDE TO CAREER SUCCESS

A man died and met st peter at the pearly gates, immediately realizing that st peter was a wise and knowledgeable individual the man inquired:”St peter I have been interested military history or many years .Tell me , who was the greatest general of all time,st peter quickly responded:”Oh that’s a simple question its that man right over there. You must be mistaken responded the man now very perplexed. I knew that man on earth and he was just a common labourer. That’s right my friend said st peter , he would have been the greatest general of all time , if he had been a general.
God created us in such a way that there will always be something that catches our fancy, make us come a live even when we aren’t feeling good, and is like fire in our bones. I am sure you’ve heard of great names like sunny obazu ojeagbase, mikel obi, pat utomi, chimamanda adichie. These are individuals drawn from different walks o life who are succeeding in their chosen career. During my career coaching sessions, some of my clients often ask me this question:What does it take to succeed on your career paths. In this highly inspirational article , I will be sharing with you the tools and habits you need to acquire so as to be a brand in your chosen field of endeavor. I will be guiding you through this journey using the acronym G .u.i.d.e

G-Giant sized passion
In the words of Richard Steele:” Men spend their lives in the service of their passion, instead of employing their passion in the service of their live”. Getting amazing results on your career path requires a whole lot of passion. Some many people are struggling on a job they are ill suited for. One of the greatest of all success secrets is for you to decide what you enjoy doing and find a way to make a good living doing it. For me its motivational communication .For an ali baba it is stand up comedy, for a funmi iyanda it is producing and presenting talkshows.A clue to unlocking your hidden genius is to dwell on your strength zone i.e a combination of your gifts, hobbies , natural endowment and abilities
U-Unmatched preparation
Benjamin Franklin asserted:” The secret of success is for a man to be prepared when his time comes”. No man goes to the battle field, and start preparing for the battle on the battle field. For instance if you desire to build a career in the banking industry, it is critical for you to start mingling with the best in the banking industry .Start reading and expanding your mind in your area of strength.Ayo makun a.k.a A.y , one of Nigeria’s hottest comedians started his comedy business right from his days at delta state university. He started with organizing events and today he is smiling enthusiastically to the bank. If you are preparing today, chances are you will not be repairing tomorrow.

I-Inimitable initiative
Initiative energizes your career. High achievers are often individuals who have an unquenchable bias for action. They do not wait till they are told what to do , before doing what they are supposed to do.Nothing will bring you the attention of people than having “A do it now mentality”. Talent without initiative never reaches its potential. Initiative is the father of knowledge. Having initiative also implies doing whatever it takes to invest in your intellectual capacity. companies all over the world are fast discarding non compliant players and jostling for a workforce concomitant with the ongoing knowledge revolution.

D-Daring attitude
Enduring success on your career will largely be dependent on your ability to cultivate a daring attitude .Daring is the way of life that has been instrumental to the monumental achievement of men. Daring means to go for what others shy away from. You need to begin to challenge what as been termed impossible in your career path. you need to swim in unconventional waters. You will always be better off daring than staring.

E-Exceptional focus
Becoming a leading light in your career requires being able to focus on what you can do and not on what you can’t do. Emilio butrugueno the vice president of real Madrid said:’ I have seen time and time again that the difference between a good player and a great player is the capacity to focus”. Focus all your energies on your career nothing more, nothing less!. whatever you are willing to focus on expands. To focus a lens you must point it to an object until it can get a well defined image .This takes a great degree of concentration.
Finally , no one is responsible for your career success other than you. There are no limits to what you can accomplish with your limitless variety of talents. All you have to do now is to put into gear(action) these five principles I have shared with you. Go and rule your world!

YOUNG AND PROUDLY NIGERIAN 3
COURAGE BEYOND ALL ODDS
As i was thinking on how to continue this series, i remembered a witty statement made by Nigeria's undoubtedly most sought after motivational speaker fela durotoye he said:'Its not the things you lack that slows you down, but what you have that you don,t use'.So many young people whine about the fact that its quite difficult to make headway in Nigeria.Though its quite knotty to live your dreams in this environment ,as nothing good comes easy, some brave young Niigerians still have the willpower and tenacity to live their dreams come what may.I will be bringing to centre stage one of our own who has been thrilling her audience through her God given ability.
After completing her schooling at federal government college jos,she enrolled at lagos state university in 2001 to study theatre arts. She says of her stay there:"I got frustrated and asked myself what i wanted to do"So after two years , she abandoned her programme and set out to dance to her own music. Her singing ablility was uncommon and at first not accepted. She said:"I remembered that i wasn,t accepted as a singer because my voice was too deep.In the church choir they were only interested in high pitched voice".She was rejected and dejected when she didn,t get a chance to sing.On leaving university, she decided to gain tutelage so as to become an expert in her field. She proceeded to peter king's college of music in badagry with the intention of completing a music diploma.
Today, Bukola elemide a.k.a ASA is the new face of soul music in the Nigerian landscape. She has performed in various national and international shows proving her own mettle and living her dreams one day at a time.Courage is critical to greatness in life.Asa was able to persist inspite of the odds she encountered on her journey to greatness.Recently i was coaching one of my clients, She desires to become an entrepreneur and she needed some coaching in her new found fascination.I told her it takes courage to leave a regular paying job to embrace the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship.Dear friend, resolve to take courageous steps in the direction of your dreams. If only you can stay with it, hang in there, never give in, never give up, never give out, then you will be able to beat your chest, walk tall and say to your self:'I have lived my dreams".Have you been inspired by these series, why don,t you share your story with me.

10 habits of highly successful youngsters

10 HABITS OF HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL YOUNGSTERS
In the past 3 years of my motivational speaking career, i have had the great priviledge of studying, watching from afar, and interacting with some notable and highly successfull young Nigerians. From denrele of the sound city fame to GT da guitarman, and not to forget my cherished interactions with chude jideonwo of the future awards and toyosi akerele of rise magazine. The purpose of studying what makes these young achievers tick, is to learn the secret of their obvious success and also model them.Knowing fully well that if these youngsters can live their dreams inspite of the so called
"Nigerian factor" rearing its ugly head, then any young person aspiring for the top can also replicate their success.
The following are the some of the positive habits they imbibe in other to keep suceeding:

1.They are original:According bishop oyedepo:"You are at your best when you are yourself".They don,t live their lives trying to be someone else. They draw strength from their natural qualities and inclinations.Denrele of the sound city fame is known for his zany hairstyle and unique mode of dressing. He doesn't imitate anyone. As john mason asserted:"Imitation is limitation"

2.They are vision driven:Based on the discovery of their calling, talents, and natural abilities, they craft their vison around these abilities. They consistently see into their preferable future and not their present conditions.Gt da guitarman, one of Nigeria's music icon once said in an interview i had with him:"I desire to be a worldclass musician and producer".Today , he is fast becoming what he saw in his life's vision.

3.They are hardworking:George w.elliot once remarked:"The main satisfaction of life comes through hardwork".These youngsters believe success comes with its price tag written on it.Chude jideonwo was always working and sweating out during preparations for the future awards. Little wonder the event was a grand success.

4.They believe in God:They consistently recognize that with God success becomes permissible, but without God success becomes impossible. They are quick to mention God as the source of their talents and fame. They understand that their achievements are a function of God'sendownment in their lives.

5.They are avid learners:Successful youngsters are always willing to learn something new. They major their lives on these saying:'Your learning power ,and not your yearning power determines your earning power".For instance i found in toyosi akerele's office a library of serious books.Success rides on the wings of information for realization.

6.They are focused:Ubong essien calls focus :"Sticktoitveness".They follow one course until successfull(FOCUS).At any points in their lives they give concentrated efforts to just one major thing at a time.No wonder they are refrence points in their chosen fields of endeavour.

7.They are people oriented:Successful youngsters don,t do things because of what they stand to gain, they are motivated by making impact, and not making money. They care about people and not trying to make people care about them.

8.They are never discouraged:For them, persistence is critical to achievement. When ever they experience the pains and perilious times of life, all they do is persist till they eventually suceed .

9.They take resposibility:Majority of the youngsters i have been able to interact with complain and whine about the state of our nation. But there are some other crop of young people who simply find creative solutions to these challenges. They take their destinies in their hands.

10.They are action oriented :They stick to what napoleon hill said:'Success comes to those who do things now".They do whatever it takes to make their dreams come true.
Have you been inspired by this article why not share your own story with me.Now go and rule your world!

how to live a better life in 2008

HOW TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE IN 2008
An old man who lived long ago enjoyed a reputation in his community for - near infinite wisdom.A young lad, skeptical of the aura surrounding the old man, decided to demistify him once and for all.He caught a cricket, enfolded it in his hands, and then called out to the old man:"Old man, the cricket that i hold is it alive or dead? The young boy had come up with a clever idea.He thought "If he says the cricket is alive, i shalll crush it in an instant "."If on the other hand he says it is dead,i shall release it and show him to be a liar"The old man looked at the boy squarely, and told him in a slow deep voice :"Young man, whether the cricket is dead or alive lies in your hands."
